Guess who's soccer team is playing in the playoffs for the state finals?!

Well, technically, Mike is the freshmen soccer coach and the Varsity boys are playing for the state title, but since he has been around for 3 years now he has coached the boys at some point. The boys played against Johnston last Saturday so while I left for Minnesota, Mike stayed back to watch the game. The boys won 1-0 so his call to me on Saturday letting me know he was on his way was a happy one. This article isn't about the Saturday game but gives a great description of the team dynamic. The next game is on Thursday and if they win they'll move on to the semi-final game. Mike's mom is done with school on Wednesday so she and his dad will make a trip to see the game. Mike will assist the head coach on the sidelines and I am so excited for him. Way to go Roughriders!

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a post about Will's arrival partly because I believe this is a very intimate event meant for an exclusive crowd (in our case this would include just Mike and I) and partly because I wasn't sure I'd really want to relive the event. Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). We both come from neighboring states (I’m from Minnesota and he’s from Illinois ) but we are thoroughly enjoying our lives here in the capital city. Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
