Well folks... tomorrow I will embark on a blogging hiatus while I head north, way, way north to the UP of Michigan! I am so looking forward to this vacation because...
1. I get to see family that lives far away as well as family that lives far, far away! We're staying in a condo with my family and my aunt and her family which include one great husband and the cutest little cranberry picker I know, although I'm sad he really won't be too little anymore =(. Regardless, holidays with them always lead to a little mischief and tons of laughter.
2. I am leaving all forms of electronics at home which means I will regain full vision in both eyes as well as full function of my brain and relieve my fingers from premature arthritis-- plus electronics never work up there so its pointless.
3. Spending the 4th of July in the UP was a tradition when I was a kid... it brings back the best memories
4. I get to leave the world of educational research for a brief moment, sigh of relief
5. Did I mention my birthday is on Sunday... that's right it's on the 4th of July, I'll be 26... hmm must remember to look for wisdom while I'm there as I'm now closer to 30 than I am to 20, yikes!
6. This is the first time I will celebrate my birthday and the 4th of July in the UP as a 21+ year old... if you're not familiar with small towns it goes something like this... bar-car dealership-bar-grocery store-bar-bar, it's gonna be a great time
7. The 16 hour car ride will give Mike and I some much needed couple time. (see #4, poor guy)
8. This one is kind of strange, but the UP is my absolute favorite place to see stars at night. It's so remote so there's nothing obstructing your view, it's perfect and I can't wait to be there with Mike.
And that's all folks! I'll bring my camera to capture the magic. Until then, catch you on the flip side! oh, and happy early 4th of July!!!
