Viva Las Vegas!

Well folks, we've returned from our little getaway and let me say... we had a blast! Mike had never been to Las Vegas and I went about 10 years ago when I was 16. Needless to say, it was much different this time around.

We stayed at New York, New York while we were there. The hotel was definitely full of action so it was great for us. We got in early Saturday evening so we headed upstairs to freshen up then hit the town. It was packed and it wasn't until Monday or so when we realized it was so busy our first night because it was Saturday night, duh! We got a nice taste of Vegas right off the bat when we passed the poker tables and a girl dancing up and down a long table in the middle, who of course was wearing something sparkly which left little to the imagination... welcome to Vegas!

9 Fine Irishmen was a bar in our hotel and we decided to cash in our two free welcome drink vouchers there as well as grab something to eat. Mike was very intrigued by the craziness of the strip so we decided to take a walk after dinner. I was wearing very high heels on this night so the walk was a big mistake! No worries though, we still had a great time! We hotel hopped for the next two nights and I'm glad we decided to stay at New York, New York. I do have to say though, the pool wasn't great. If you're looking for a place to relax, I'd advise a different spot. It was a nice pool, it was just really small and the chairs were pretty much all touching each other. The last time I went to Vegas, we stayed at MGM Grand and their pools were amazing! New York, New York... not so much. (We were still able to catch some great sun though!)

We returned to Des Moines on Tuesday morning giving us two full days there. Although it was sad to leave, two days was definitely plenty. We seriously underestimated the toll this vacation took on us because we returned home and both crashed for 3+ hours, woke up to have dinner, and went back to bed!

Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
