Great Long Weekend
I hope everyone had a great, long weekend!
Friday night I pulled in to see an unknown car parked in our driveway. I was pleasantly surprised when I was welcomed by one of our very good family friends! I was even more pleasantly surprised when I saw they were enjoying some Friday night cocktails with my parents, yahoo!! There is something very, very special about people who have known you almost your entire life and aren't even an extended family member. This family is the best and it was great to hang out and catch up.
I woke up early on Saturday to prepare for my big day of shopping with the ladies. I am proud to say we found some solid candidates for the L+B wedding. It was so fun to not only catch up with my friends but also spend some time with L's mom and sister. After shopping I picked up Mike and went back out for a night on the town with good friends. We kept it casual and after some great food and even better beer we became restless and started brainstorming our next location. Someone shouted, "hey, let's go bowling." To which I laughed and responded, "that's a good one."
Turns out... we went bowling. It actually worked out perfectly because Mike agreed to be my sober cab (which is usually how our nights turn out regardless of any prior agreements) so this kept him entertained. We ended up at Bryant Lake Bowl in Uptown and had a blast! It's the coolest bowling alley because it's super small and totally vintage. They also provide socks for bowlers... or intoxicated 20somethings looking for a good time, whichever category you prefer...you'll be set!
Sunday consisted of some quality family time. The boys golfed, the gals shopped. We topped the evening of with amazing grilled steaks (my dad could seriously quit his day job) and a little Sex and the City! Well, my mom and I... the boys saw Iron Man II.
As always, Monday came too soon. I salvaged every last minute of the peaceful and relaxing weekend by enjoying a good book on the deck. A great end to a great weekend. Happy post-Memorial Day everyone! Here comes summer!
