I think we're getting old
because tomorrow is officially the first day of summer (I had to be at school today but no kids=not a real work day) and to celebrate... we have mountainous to-do lists!
Mike actually has to go in to school and clean out his classroom then he heads to Ames for a retreat with his new staff. He is moving to a school that is made up of 18 new employees so they are being asked to attend a retreat of sorts where they will learn about goals for the upcoming year and ways to prepare over the summer. He very enthusiastically informed me they get to take one of those fancy coach-like buses from Des Moines to Ames... I thought it was a joke, but he really is excited. I then asked if he knew what the sleeping arrangements were going to be, and he wasn't sure... this could be an interesting retreat ;).
I have a completely random to-do list filled with "I can deal with that once summertime hits" things... and boom, it's here so, game on! It'll be great to check things off but unfortunately the thing I look forward to most, sleeping in, will have to wait. Luckily, Mike and I are genius' who planned a little getaway this weekend. yay!
While I know I can't complain about having my summer off, I'd like to point out that adult summers off hardly resemble the summers we all remember as kids. I guess it's just what happens when you get older. I will leave you with one thing that never ceases to thrill me in June, July, and August... payday! I like to pretend it's my school districts way of handing out bonuses... or that they think I'm a really, really, really great teacher, ha!
