Shortcomings
Last Thursday, Mike's parents came to town to watch the Roosevelt Roughriders fight for a spot in the boys soccer state semi-finals. Mike's parents picked me up from school and we headed out to the field. Boy, did I forget what high school sporting events were like... and the mothers... oh boy!
The boys before the game. Roosevelt is in the blue and the other team (I forgot where they were from but their mascot was the cougar). Unfortunately, this is where things turned south for the boys... they didn't play so hot. They had great defense but, unfortunately when you spend the entire game defending the ball you have little time left to get the ball to the other side of the field let alone into the goal. I think the other teams goalie enjoyed the game though, he didn't have to do much. :(
There were some highlights of the game though. Mike's parents really enjoyed watching him coach. I couldn't help but think they were reminded of all the time spent attending Mike's soccer games and now they get to watch him coach... they must've felt pretty proud.
Another cool thing... and I know I'm biased... but Mike makes a pretty handsome coach :). I know these pictures are super far away but I was a little afraid I wouldn't be asked back to any more games if I showed up on the players side of the field. If you look in the middle you'll see to men with navy shirts and khaki's, Mike is the one with his hands on his waist.
Okay, now this one is going to be a real stretch but, again in the middle, there are two people sitting on water jugs and the one on the right is Mike and he is talking with one of his players! What a good coach!!
I am officially cringing at what you must be thinking of me right now... soccermominthemaking argh, but it truly was cool to watch. Too bad they lost, boo.
