A little of this, a little of that

Day 2 in Chicago was obviously spent doin' a little shopping! I was in desperate need of a new outfit and Erin was the perfect shopping partner. After a few shop stops, I walked away with new jeans and new boots for the evening (very exciting for me!).

While shopping, we noticed a blissfully wonderful scent in the air... sweet and savory... that made Erin say, "oh my, what is that?" At this point I decided to abort the shopping for a bit in order to allow Erin the experience of... Garrett's Popcorn... for the first time.

Erin experienced the typical first timer thoughts..."wow, really, this long of a line?" "mmm, I'm not sure I'll like mixing the cheese and caramel together."  Of course... all of this was until she tasted the absolute wonder that is Garrett's popcorn. After that... she was hooked.

After our little afternoon delight and a quick nap, we were ready to hit the town for night #2. We started the evening at Hub 51 where we tried the Hub Punch... very delicious. I also ate sushi for the first time! I know this comes as quite a shock for those close to me but... I repeat... I ate sushi... and liked it!

Isn't she a beauty!

Sushi anyone?!

As the night rolled on we ended up setting out to meet up with a friend of ours who lives in Chicago. He said he could be found at Lodge, so naturally we hopped in a cab and said, "we need to go to the Lodge," not really having any idea where we were headed. We were dropped off in front of this adorable little wooden establishment with the funniest decor we'd ever seen.
Well...so we thought.

...taking a little culture break...

After a drink or two at lodge we moved the party across the street to a place that celebrates Christmas all year round. We had never seen so many tacky Christmas decorations in our lives. I'll let the picture speak for itself...

This is the ceiling, where, thankfully, most of the decorations were placed. Honestly, have you ever seen this many Christmas decorations in one place?! I don't think we found one decoration made after 1995 in the whole darn place.

And this is where our time in Chicago sadly comes to an end. The morning after we packed up our things and headed to the train station. All in all, a great girls weekend. We can't wait to go back perhaps when the weather takes a turn... and baseball season begins... can't beat a Cubs game!
