Winter Break 2009

Sorry for the unexpected break in blogging friends! Winter break was a bit crazy and somewhere amidst all the packing, traveling, repacking, and more traveling, I misplaced the power cord to my computer! As our great friends Ojash would say, "What have we learned?... keep tabs on the power cord, without it, blogging is difficult."

Anyways, instead of boring you to death with a novel about our adventures during this winter break written by yours truly, I'll use pictures...
We headed up to MN on Tuesday night only to be welcomed by a forecast for snow the entire time we were there! Talk about a white Christmas.

Mike and Jake took advantage of the fresh snow fall and made a fort off the deck. Why off the deck? one might ask... so you can launch yourself off the deck into the fort walls when you're finished, of course.


Santa was very kind to Jake this year. He walked away Christmas morning with numerous new gadgets, including Beatles Rock Band which the boys are setting up in this picture.

After 3 full days in winter wonderland, we said goodbye to the Dean's and headed south to Florida! Via St. Charles, IL of course to pick up the rest of the Pentek clan.


After an awesome 24 hour drive from IL to FL, we arrived to palm trees, sunny weather, and the best part of all... Disneyworld!!

During our time in Florida, we visited Mickey and the gang at Disney's Magic Kingdom and even managed to catch some sun with 2 very relaxing days at the pool. We rang in the new year with an amazing fireworks display at Epcot!!

All in all, a very successful winter break for sure. Mike and I are so blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives. We are so excited for 2010 and all the adventures it will bring.

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a post about Will's arrival partly because I believe this is a very intimate event meant for an exclusive crowd (in our case this would include just Mike and I) and partly because I wasn't sure I'd really want to relive the event. Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). We both come from neighboring states (I’m from Minnesota and he’s from Illinois ) but we are thoroughly enjoying our lives here in the capital city. Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
