Weekend Shenanigans
Last weekend my family visited from Minnesota. They wanted to come down to meet Jackson and enjoy some Des Moines staples such as the Downtown Farmer's Market and a round of golf. Actually, the round of golf is more like a weekend staple for the men in my family and is not specific to Des Moines but they did golf.
Jackson showed off immensely with 3 new audience members in the house. His energy was through the roof on Friday night but in his defense, our visitors came armed with the most engaging toy Jackson has sunk his teething mouth into yet...
The toy he actually got is taller and fits a 16.9 ounce empty water bottle which J-man goes buts over anyways but when it's encased in a furry chew toy that looks like a rodent... then he's in heaven. I should've snatched a video of it but we were laughing too hard!
While the boys golfed on Saturday afternoon my mom and I attempted to take Jackson on a legitimate walk which he has yet to show he knows how do to but we thought it'd be fun to try. Fail. Big fail. Huge. He has yet to grasp the concept of a walk and chooses to interpret the time as an opportunity to explore everything but the sidewalk which means calling his name in excess and offering treats like a maniac. Then, his paw pads must've gotten too hot on the pavement or something because he started doing this little dance as if he were trying out for a swing dance competition and planted himself into a nice patch of tall grass and refused to move. I had to climb into the bush myself just to get him out. He's lucky he's so damn cute. Anyways, the walk lasted approximately 20 minutes and we only made it less that a tenth of a mile so the majority of the 20 minutes was spent coaxing him to move in the general direction of the car so we get the heck out of there. Thank god our puppy class topic tomorrow night is loose leash walking because clearly this is an area of need for Jackson and his owners.
Saturday night we had a feast at our humble abode. My dad is a master chef and grilled filet steak served with sauteed scallops for dinner. Since is was such a fancy menu we decided to gussy up our dining room table for her first feast ever!
Aint' she a beaut! We also got use our new patio furniture for appetizers, pre-meal beverages, and general chitchat outside. We tied Jackson to the deck so he could explore the backyard freely and everyone had a grand 'ole time.
It was a fantastic weekend and the whole family approved highly of Mr. Jackson. He approved too and celebrated a great weekend with 3 1/2 hours of a snoring nap on Sunday after they left!
"Can't wait to see you again soon!" -Love Jackson :)
