Face Lift

What do you think of the redesign? I thought it was high time I change things up a bit though I'm still playing around with layouts so don't be too surprised if it changes here and there in the next few weeks.

In other news, less than one week until we pick up our newest addition. We went shopping last Friday for supplies so aside from the things we'll pick up from our breeder (like food and a few toys) we're all set! A note about our breeder: we really lucked out. Getting a dog is something we've talked about forever and we were going to go for it last summer but then ended up out of town for a lot of the summer so we didn't think it'd be a good idea to welcome a new puppy in the midst of all that travel and craziness. So during spring break I did some research on breeders in the area and actually found a few that mentioned they'd have summer litters available. Luckily, I heard back from Julie at Shadowmyst Labradors in Oskaloosa, IA (about an hour from us). She said she did still have puppies available but before she promised us anything she asked us to complete a questionnaire she likes potential puppy owners to complete. It was certainly an intense questionnaire, about 30 questions. It asked tons of questions about us, our schedule, and mostly what we want in a dog and what we plan to do as owners to make sure we raise the best lab we can. It was quite fun really, our first step in "puppy parenting" if you will. She was pleased with our answers so she put on the list to receive a puppy. Like I said before, he's a black lab and was born on May 7, 2013. Since he was born Julie has contacted us each week with updates. She also has helped us prepare for puppies arrival by telling us all the things we need and to schedule before hand which has been wonderful. We are so excited to pick him up next Monday. Then the real fun begins... potty training. yippee!!
