Another Year Down

Wednesday June 5th marked the last day of yet another school year under our belts in our grown up world of being teachers. All in all it was a great year. Mike had an especially successful year and received the amazing news that his school met their achievement goals for the year which helped them earn not only the title of most improved middle school in Des Moines but one of the top achieving as well. This is no small feat and he certainly feels an enormous sense of pride in his school and his kids. Unfortunately, my school can't say the same. Though this is a great disappointment it isn't completely unexpected given the amount of change we're currently enduring in my school. We have a long way to go to reach the top but I feel confident we'll get there. It will take time so we have to relish in the small victories as they come.

For the first time I think since we've been married I can say that Mike and are both happy to announce we will return to our exact same positions for the upcoming school year and we really couldn't be more excited about it. That is... after a nice long summer break :).
