Remember summer?

As we sit here listening to the sounds of shoveling in the courtyard of our apartment building in the midst of yet another snow fall, I can't help but think of those far off summer months.

Despite being the shortest month, February can often feel exactly the opposite. For two teachers Feburary means looming conferences, indoor recess (for me), and counting the days until spring break. I also think February can be tough because it is smack-dab in the middle of winter. Snow just doesn't have the same sparkle it did in December=( .

So to try and side-swipe the February blues, I've included some pictures of... summer!!

This picture was taken in the Great Barrier Reef during my trip in 2005.

Now, I know there is snow on the top of this mountain, but I promise you it's summer! This was our first trip to Surprise Lake.

Summer offers a fantastic time to catch up with girlfriends... I'm not sure what we're doing but... we look like we're having fun... and we're tan!

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a post about Will's arrival partly because I believe this is a very intimate event meant for an exclusive crowd (in our case this would include just Mike and I) and partly because I wasn't sure I'd really want to relive the event. Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). We both come from neighboring states (I’m from Minnesota and he’s from Illinois ) but we are thoroughly enjoying our lives here in the capital city. Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
