One Proud Sister

When I posted a while back about all the things that are possibly looming in our future for the upcoming decade, I completely omitted the milestones that will be happening within our own immediate families!

My mom called last night and wanted my opinion on classes my brother should look into taking in high school!! I simply can not believe that he is getting ready to be a freshmen! I know this sounds a bit odd, but we are separated by an 11 year age gap. I was so excited to have a brother and ever since he was little I thought all the time about the milestones he would go through and how old I would be when he reached these milestones. Well, here it is folks... the boy is entering high school... class of 2014, here he comes!

I went through some old pictures and special things I have saved over the years and came across this...


My brother was just going into 1st grade when I left for college. So, to keep in touch and to give him some extra practice with reading and writing, we used to write letters back and forth to each other.

Now he is taller than me and getting ready to go here...



He gets to be a freshmen in a brand new school that looks like a community college! What a lucky guy ;).

We can't wait to see what his high school years will bring! Way to go little bro!

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a post about Will's arrival partly because I believe this is a very intimate event meant for an exclusive crowd (in our case this would include just Mike and I) and partly because I wasn't sure I'd really want to relive the event. Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). We both come from neighboring states (I’m from Minnesota and he’s from Illinois ) but we are thoroughly enjoying our lives here in the capital city. Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
