Happy Valentine's Day

Our first Valentine's as a married couple! After our yummy yummy dinner, we headed out to the Brenton Skating Plaza about 3 blocks from our home.
As soon as we got outside we realized it was snowing! It was so romantic.

The skating rink is outdoors and sits just east of the Des Moines river. Do you see the women with the black pants and blue/green jacket in the middle of this picture... that's me! I was a little disappointed to find out that my skating skills were a little rocky. Mike was better than me, but not as great as he once remembered. We were determined to get turns down before we left, and we succeeded.

I wouldn't let us leave before watching Apollo Ohno skate for the silver (I love him). So this is me being Apollo Ohno trying to look like a fierce competitor.

We had a blast and I only fell once and Mike didn't fall at all. If you live in the Des Moines area I'd highly recommend a trip to the rink. It was $14 for both of us and that included our skates. We were there for about 2 hours. They also play music which always makes for a good time :).

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a post about Will's arrival partly because I believe this is a very intimate event meant for an exclusive crowd (in our case this would include just Mike and I) and partly because I wasn't sure I'd really want to relive the event. Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
