School Boards and Codine
I'm baaaack. =)
I know you must be thinking... where the heck has she been?! Well, let me tell you it has been one heck of a roller coaster ride this past week and I am slowly but surely coming out of my whirlwind of a haze. On Monday, my school district presented their budget reduction suggestions to the school board. Wednesday was the open forum in which tax-payers, parents, and staff speak their mind... and that they did. I left for work on Wednesday morning at 7:10am and didn't return home again until 11:00pm. Exhaustion
Meanwhile, administrators from my district were busy visiting staff members who were unfortunately let go or displaced from their positions because of the above mentioned reductions. Luckily, I was not one to be let go but I was displaced, meaning I have a job for next year but I do not know what I will be teaching. Disappointment and exhaustion
Friday was another long day with 1st grade all day and Drake classes all night. As I sat in class I realized I was definitely not feeling well (I hadn't really felt well all week but kind of assumed it came with the territory). I got home and went to bed only to be awoken 2 hours later with the worst, and most annoying, cough in the world! Needless to say, I did not get any sleep, had to e-mail my professor at 3am letting him know I wouldn't be making it to class, figure out when my walk-in clinic opened in the morning and be sure I dragged my coughing-tired-ass rump there the minute it opened. Exhuasted, sick, annoyed, sick, gross, sick
Luckily, there is a happy ending to this tale and it's called Cheratussin which means cough syrup with codine, mmmmmmm.
After 3 days of going in and out of a codine coma I am happy to say I am on the mend and doing well. I really think sleep was just what the doctor ordered.
Glad to be back folks!
