Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend. We enjoyed some good food and company last night but it got me thinking of Easters past. I have learned that Easter becomes a drastically different holiday as you get older.

- Buying and Easter dress each year to wear to church... doesn't happen anymore
- Boiling and dying Easter eggs... nope, not happening (I'm not even sure I know how to hard boil and egg)
- An Easter egg hunt ... I tried to get Mike into this... he was mortified
- Candy, candy, candy... definitely not
- Large Easter feast... not so much, although last night we did manage to cook a very lovely feast (more to come on that)

I guess this is just part of an increasingly long list of all those traditions that have left us and will return someday when we have kids of our own. There was one thing at our Easter celebration last night that did not show up anywhere in my Easter celebrations as a kid... lots of wine. I guess some things are a welcome change =).

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a post about Will's arrival partly because I believe this is a very intimate event meant for an exclusive crowd (in our case this would include just Mike and I) and partly because I wasn't sure I'd really want to relive the event. Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). We both come from neighboring states (I’m from Minnesota and he’s from Illinois ) but we are thoroughly enjoying our lives here in the capital city. Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
