Sunday night bar crawl? Why not?!

Last week Mike was chatting with our friend John (who is working towards his PhD at Iowa State)  and both came to the stunning realization that the three of us had spring break at the same time. We immediately thought putting a Sunday Night bar crawl in Ames on our spring break agenda seemed absolutely necessary. So, Sunday night, we packed up our things and headed north to begin the festivities!

We started the night playing a little MarioKart on the Wii. This was so fun, I almost didn't even want to go out! The little wheels are so cute and you can catch on pretty easily.

We did eventually head out for our bar crawl but quickly realized one problem... no one told Ames we were in for a night out on the town! There was one bar open! That does not a bar crawl make, so we had to change the name from bar crawl to bar stop.

Aren't they cute! We went to Welch Ave. Station. 2 things that were funny about this bar:
1. They were only taking cash.
2. The ATM only had $10 bills!

We decided to play darts, which normally isn't my thing but I played along and actually held my own. Mike and I lost, however, to this shot...
bummer for us :(.

Next we moved onto Shuffleboard and lost that too.

Oh well, we had a lot of fun. The walk home was a bit sad because everything was shut down which meant, no late night snacks for us =(. We topped the night off with a little more MarioKart. Good times!

Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
