... or maybe I should say what is going up in Iowa. bahahahahahahahah


These were taken last Thursday and I think it's a bit worse now. Although it's been 55ish degrees and sunny for the past 2 days so that helps.

There is a small hill underneath the water here that leads to a sidewalk. What a lovely place to take a stroll huh!


I took this picture to show the sidewalk going into the water. We have an underground parking garage at our building and we were told to move our cars to street level in case of flooding. It didn't happen, but it's good to know our management keeps us informed!

Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). We both come from neighboring states (I’m from Minnesota and he’s from Illinois ) but we are thoroughly enjoying our lives here in the capital city. Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
