Oscar Night Favs

Fashion is not a huge area of pride for me. I enjoy looking at other fashionable people, but am far from earning the label of fashionable. There is one night of the year, however, when people like me can feel they are a part of the high-fashion world and that would be Oscar Night! Mike was into the show as much as I was this year which was a lot of fun for me, it was like a date night! He even watched the red carpet portion and critiqued the gowns!

Our favorite looks of the night...

I loved this dress! It was an absolute piece of art and I honestly think the color is a common one to wash people out, but she pulls it off very well.

This fav is more because I really like Maggie Gyllenhaal, but I do think she looked amazing. The dress goes great with her dark hair.


And the Pentek choice for best dressed is...
Demi Moore, in Mike's words, "She is amazing." I'm pretty sure he wasn't just talking about the dress, and really who can blame him, but man she looked gorgeous!

And let's hear it for the underdog! I was thrilled to see Kathryn Bigelow become the first female ever to win best director (and here's to many more to come in the future!). I also loved that Sandra Bullock won for her role in The Blind Side, which has officially become on of my favorite movies of all time.

All in all, a great awards show and a fun night in with the hubby. Now... time to go see The Hurt Locker!

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a post about Will's arrival partly because I believe this is a very intimate event meant for an exclusive crowd (in our case this would include just Mike and I) and partly because I wasn't sure I'd really want to relive the event. Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). We both come from neighboring states (I’m from Minnesota and he’s from Illinois ) but we are thoroughly enjoying our lives here in the capital city. I have found my favorite things about Iowa categorize themselves into seasons, which is how I will present this lovely state to you today. Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
