L + BJ

This past weekend I went to the City of Lakes to attend the first of many celebrations for the upcoming Leah and BJ nuptuals (I have to use their first names for now because I can't spell BJ's last name yet... I thought Leah's last name was tricky but he puts hers to shame). The party was held at The Local, and when you pair the location with our fabulous group of friends... you're in for a great night. And that it was my friends.

I almost cried when I saw this sign... had to take a picture of it. How exciting!

These two are the best, we are so excited for them. I remember the first time Leah told me about BJ and about 3 weeks later we met in person. It's always a bit nerve racking to meet your best friends new boyfriend, it's hard not to think... what if he can't hold a candle to her?! They came to stay at our place in Des Moines for a night and I remember as soon as he walked in it was as if he had already been a part of our lives, he just fit. It's crazy but it's honestly true!

It's not a party until this party animal creeps into the picture!

I can't believe another one of us is getting married. It feels like just yesterday we were planning sleepovers and renting movies with Joshua Jackson in them so we could swoon all night... ahhh the memories!

Isn't she gorgeous, BJ you're a lucky guy. Congratulations!

PS- I saw a picture of the dress... it's to die for.

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a post about Will's arrival partly because I believe this is a very intimate event meant for an exclusive crowd (in our case this would include just Mike and I) and partly because I wasn't sure I'd really want to relive the event. Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). We both come from neighboring states (I’m from Minnesota and he’s from Illinois ) but we are thoroughly enjoying our lives here in the capital city. Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
