Winter has arrived!

We finally got our first big snowfall here in Des Moines and it looks like more is coming! Being a Minnesota girl, I absolutely love the first snow fall. It's so peaceful and brings back many memories. Mike's favorite snow memory is playing snow football as a little kid. Fortunately, he was able to continue this in college with an annual snow football tournament with his fraternity brothers. I'm glad that this is a happy memory for Mike because all it brings back for me is nerves... 20+ grown boys playing football in the snow and ice with no padding and various football skills... not so fun for your girlfriend! My favorite memory of snow was building a huge fort with my dad when I was younger. It was awesome... we even put Christmas lights in the snow so it glowed. It was the talk of the neighborhood.

We hear there's more snow coming tonight and into tomorrow... this could mean a snow day for both of us! Not sure if we'll be that lucky though =).

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a post about Will's arrival partly because I believe this is a very intimate event meant for an exclusive crowd (in our case this would include just Mike and I) and partly because I wasn't sure I'd really want to relive the event. Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). We both come from neighboring states (I’m from Minnesota and he’s from Illinois ) but we are thoroughly enjoying our lives here in the capital city. I have found my favorite things about Iowa categorize themselves into seasons, which is how I will present this lovely state to you today. Summer/Fall One of our absolute favorite things about Des Moines is the farmer’s market ! Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
