A holiday tradition

Every year Macy's in downtown Minneapolis puts together an elaborate holiday display on their 8th floor. I lived in Minnesota for 13 years and seeing this holiday display was something we did every year!! Now that I am all grown up, it isn't always on the list of things to do anymore over the holidays. Luckily, my friend Erin suggested we go together this year!
The theme this year was A Day in the Life of an Elf, which was advertised as "back by popular demand, meaning it was the same display as last year. This made me quite sad because, despite their efforts to make it seem exciting and popular, I think everyone knew this was most likely the result of the lack of budget everyone is facing these days. Nonetheless, I was still happy to see all the families in line with us we shuffled our way through. It's a great tradition and certainly brings back wonderful memories for me =).


I thought this part was super cute. This is Santa's "mail room"! The elves can barely keep up with all those letters!


Can you see the excitement in Mike's face that he is now a part of the fabulous tradition?!

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a post about Will's arrival partly because I believe this is a very intimate event meant for an exclusive crowd (in our case this would include just Mike and I) and partly because I wasn't sure I'd really want to relive the event. Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
