more snow day continued...

This picture was taken from our window so it's not too clear. In the distance, you can see the river. One of the elements that made today so dangerous was the wind. There have been times where the wind picked up and we couldn't even see across the courtyard.


This is the walkway from the street to our courtyard. I took the picture so you could see how much the snow was drifting. It's pretty chilly too, needless to say we spent the day inside.



One of our favorite snow day activities is making cookies! We took a precautionary trip to the grocery store on Tuesday night to make sure we had all the cookie essentials. I used to make cookies all the time with my mom, definitely a favorite childhood memory. I'm happy to say that Mike enjoys that my cookie making skills are quite refined from all my experience. I look forward to the day we make cookies on snow days with little ones =).

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a post about Will's arrival partly because I believe this is a very intimate event meant for an exclusive crowd (in our case this would include just Mike and I) and partly because I wasn't sure I'd really want to relive the event. Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). We both come from neighboring states (I’m from Minnesota and he’s from Illinois ) but we are thoroughly enjoying our lives here in the capital city. Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
