A Winter Getaway
Ladies and gentlemen, it's happened... Miss Leah has officially had her final celebratory weekend as a single lady. She is not the sentimental type but upon entering the first bar of the evening she mentioned how surreal everything was and how she truly never thought the day would come where we would all join together to celebrate her upcoming nuptials.
Little did she know she would in fact meet the man of her dreams and we would in fact celebrate her last days a single lady in a rustic cabin in the woods... and it was amazing.
Erin and I headed to Hayward, WI early Friday afternoon only to find a blizzard in the works coming through Minnesota which followed us the whole way. We finally pulled in here...
Needless to say, we did a happy dance when we entered our new home for the weekend. It was perfect. We knew Leah would love it. The only problem; the road conditions had deteriorated and we were still waiting on 3 carloads of our closest friends, including the guest of honor.
So, Erin and I got everything settled, stocked up on some last minute supplies, actually did a bit of homework, then settled by the fire, with a cocktail in hand, and waited.
Luckily, everyone made it safely and once they did we partied 'till the sun came up... literally.
Saturday afternoon we had a shower of sorts for Leah and then headed out for the evening. We found a cab company... oh wait, let me rephrase... we found a women named Cindy who had a van labeled Taxi to cart us around for the evening. There were 12 of us on Saturday evening so she had to make two trips everywhere. I think it's safe to say this was one of Cindy's busiest nights in the cab business. Throughout our evening we met toothless locals, bars that doubled as "wildlife" museums, one cranky casino doorman, a man with a snowmobile who took Erin for a tool around the lake (only after I warned him that if anything happened to her on his "machinery" I'd personally kill him), a lot of Packer fans, and cheap booze! If math isn't your thing... all of these things added together equal one memorable weekend for the bachelorette and her closest partners in crime.
The view from the loft.
The gang, truly an amazing group of girls.
And the three of us... words cannot express what these ladies mean to me. As we continue to add years to our friendship I'm in awe that somehow, at the age of 13 we found each other and have stuck by one another through it all. I can't wait to see where life takes us. I can't wait to celebrate again at the big event in just a few weeks!
