My new year's resolution...
... and other people's new year's resolution.
My main resolution for this year is to increase my efficiency level. I actually spent a long time thinking about making a resolution this year and as I was throwing around ideas, I decided to stick with this one because it made the most sense.
On the whole, I'm pretty organized so my efficiency level is not that bad... but I have my moments, and my days too. I have days in which I know I have a million things to be doing but I just don't do them, plain and simple. This happens at school and at home and, to tell you the truth, I'm sick of feeling disappointed (and to make matters worse, I'm the one disappointing myself, ugh).
As I dug deeper, I realized my emotions are the reason this happens 9 times out of 10. If I'm feeling overwhelmed or if I was "super productive" earlier that day or the day before I develop some sort of "stick it to the man" complex in which I feel I deserve a break... from myself. While I am a huge advocate of taking time for yourself when needed, I think my interpretation of this is a little too lackadaisical.
So... my new year's resolution this year is to increase efficiency. To do this, I need to better identify my own emotions and their effects on my daily productivity. *There's a slight possibility my new year's resolution, and this post, are a direct reflection of my past year spent reading research articles and scientifically based studies. I apologize. There is also a chance, upon completion of the post, I could re-write my resolution completely and title it... I need to grow up. Interesting, huh.
As for other people's resolutions... can I just say how much I hate going to the gym in the month of January???... no??... save that for another day?... or just don't say anything at all because those people are making a conscious decision to become healthier and I should be encouraging this... oh... okay... I'll stop.
Happy new year's resolution time everyone and Godspeed to you as you stick to it!
