Buh-Bye April

 ... and don't let the door hit you on the way out! 
The Penteks have decided to welcome May with open arms after what had to have been the most, we'll say... interesting April's ever. No need to go into the nitty gritty, but the short story includes both of us spending an uncomfortable amount of time in the waiting place.


Do you remember the waiting place from Dr. Seuss' beloved favorite, Oh, The Places You'll Go!? (yes I know I should have that title underlined, but I can't find the button in blogger... my apologies) The waiting place is not a fun place to be, no sir-eee. Luckily, we were able to exit the waiting place with news that both of us will indeed have jobs for next year. Mike will be teaching Title 1 reading in a different middle school in Des Moines and I will be staying in my current building and moving to 3rd grade. We feel so blessed to have come out of this with such positive news. We are excited for the things to come and mostly excited to continue to work on achieving our list of future endeavors (vacations, buying a home, etc.). We're off to great places, we're off and away!

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a post about Will's arrival partly because I believe this is a very intimate event meant for an exclusive crowd (in our case this would include just Mike and I) and partly because I wasn't sure I'd really want to relive the event. Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). We both come from neighboring states (I’m from Minnesota and he’s from Illinois ) but we are thoroughly enjoying our lives here in the capital city. I have found my favorite things about Iowa categorize themselves into seasons, which is how I will present this lovely state to you today. Summer/Fall One of our absolute favorite things about Des Moines is the farmer’s market ! Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
