Weekend Update
This past weekend was very low key in the Pentek household. In fact, we were in bed with lights out by 10pm on Friday night! Saturday evening we spent some time with new friends which is always fun. Otherwise, we caught up on some reading, made yummy breakfasts, and hung out in our home. It was just lovely =). One of the articles I read this weekend shared some exciting news about the land we call home...
I consider Mike and I to be quite lucky for many reasons, one of which being the sole fact that we both have a great amount of love and admiration for the states to our north and east. Can anything ever replace the loyalty you feel for your “hometown”? It’s funny to us when, after asking where Mike and I both grew up; the immediate reaction we receive is, “How in the world did you end up here?” A great question really and one I’ve eluded to in past posts but, in short, Mike and I both truly think Des Moines is a great place to be. However, we’d both be lying if we said we didn’t miss a few luxuries that accompany living in a larger metropolitan area. The most obvious example of this is access to a well-connected airport.
You really have two choices here in Des Moines: 1) Pay a lot more to fly conveniently out of Des Moines but rarely having access to a direct flight or 2) Pay less for an actual ticket on a direct flight but have to drive 2-3 hours to the nearest larger airport (we usually prefer Omaha but it depends on where you’re going). Well, as luck would have it, a recent article in the Des Moines Register appears to have granted our wishes (click here to read on).
I completely agree with the final remarks, this is a huge step in the right direction for Des Moines. I wonder what’s next?
