Such a Stud

Allow me to brag for just a moment about my stud muffin. On Wednesday this past week Mike played in a staff vs. students basketball game at his school. He got so into it!! After hearing all about it and then seeing these pictures I couldn't help but melt.







I think it's pretty neat Mike chooses to take advantage of these opportunities to connect with his students. Plus, he knows when he tells me he'll be playing basketball I can't help but cringe but the second he mentions it's for his students he knows I'll fold immediately and say, "whatever it takes." What can I say the kids, and seeing my handsome hubby on the sidelines having so much fun, will always be a weakness of mine.

(PS- The reason I blurred the photo was so the others in the picture were less recognizable. And yes, I realize it looks like I'm trying to get you to hear angels singing by focusing all on Mike's face but I promise you, the effect is only there for the first reason I mentioned.)

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a post about Will's arrival partly because I believe this is a very intimate event meant for an exclusive crowd (in our case this would include just Mike and I) and partly because I wasn't sure I'd really want to relive the event. Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). We both come from neighboring states (I’m from Minnesota and he’s from Illinois ) but we are thoroughly enjoying our lives here in the capital city. Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
