Crazy or Inspired?

I believe a mighty fine line exists between the two.

After our whirlwind of house projects completed during our winter break (which you can read all about here) I have felt nothing but joy when I come home everyday to see the work we did. It even makes the time it took to complete these shelves feel totally worth it (even waiting for the damn stain to dry which, if I haven't told you enough, takes forever).

Ooh, sorry it's a little pixel-y, I took this with my phone. I'm still playing around with the decor but that's part of the fun of these new shelves, right? Oh, and I've been meaning to mention the vases on the left side of the buffet for a while... they were a Christmas gift from Mike's sister and they look absolutely fabulous in our dining/living area! They're the hive vases from West Elm and they make me squeal with excitement to see them in the room. Well done Missy =).

Despite my excitement over the many projects we've already completed, I'm learning that being a homeowner means... your excitement only holds you over for so long. You know, until the next list of projects begins forming in your mind. If you don't think I'm crazy already wait to you hear this... I'm currently lusting over ideas for summer (do you think there are support groups for people like me? Probably but I bet it only lasts for one meeting because by the time the second one roles around you've realized you now know a whole group of people who can help you complete your projects faster because you all have the house project sickness, tehehe). Anyways, I blame Pinterest (duh) and having HGTV on as background noise, a deadly combination without doubt. On with the ideas...

This one actually came from Mike after we saw this on a backyard makeover on Design on a Dime. Granted I don't know the first thing when it comes to keeping plants alive but I have a feeling making something like this would give me the motivation to learn (fingers crossed). The two coolest things about this project: 1) it's made of cinder blocks which are under $1 a piece and 2) "winterizing" it would take minimal effort on our part.

I'd love to DIY me some mason jar lanterns =). Our deck only has a railing on one side and the previous owners lined one of the un-railed sides with bushes and hanging lanterns. I'd love to recreate this and I think I'd really love the effect of the mason jars, such a "dead of summer with hot days and cool nights" type feeling.

Of course, these are all pipe dreams for now but, let's just say I'm an excited, project-crazy homeowner. =)
