All Work and No Play

The original plan was to write this post after my post about this trip to emphasize the fact that while I was away Mike was a busy, busy man.

We knew we needed and wanted to paint our house since we moved in. We needed to because the paint was peeling in area so in order to protect the siding, repainting was needed. We wanted to paint the house because pastel green and cream brick was just a little too country for our liking. Well, we finally got around to thinking about it and imagine my surprise when Mike said, "hey, do you think it'd be okay if I paint the house during the weekend you're in Vegas?" *For the record, anyone who would say no to this is a damn fool. My reply? Um. Yes.

Luckily, Mike's parents and my dad were all available that same weekend and willing to travel to DSM to lend a helping hand. I left on Thursday to a house that looked like this

and came home on Sunday to a house that looked like this

It was amazing. I'm so happy we did it. It feels much more "us" than it did before. We still need to paint the garage doors and we can't decide if we go with the same color as the house or the color of the trim. Any thoughts? Until then, we're enjoying staring at it each day. We've also gotten compliments from the neighbors which makes me feel happy. I think Jackson likes it too :).

Mike scored major points on this particular weekend. Big thanks to all of my minions our helpers for the weekend too!!
