The Play Continues

I didn't mean for there to be complete radio silence between my last post and this post but for continuity reasons, it may work out for the best.

Way back in the spring I was asked by a friend of ours if I was interested in seeing Mumford & Sons in Kansas City in June. The tickets were reasonably priced, it was an outdoor venue (which I love), I like Mumford & Sons, and it was during the summer. All signs pointed to, yes. Yes I'd love to go. Unfortunately, the concert was postponed due to a medical emergency for one of the band members (it had something to do with his brain, scary stuff). Lucky for us they did reschedule the concert which just happened to land on a Friday evening. I was a little bummed because it'd mean I'd have to take a half day of work after very recently taking a full day off of work for personal reasons but I was excited nonetheless.

The concert was actually in Bonner Springs, KS which is a bit outside KC. I'd like to tell you all about the lovely town but I didn't see much of it. Our hotel was right off the highway and the amphitheater was just about a mile up the road. I did get to know the route from the hotel to the concert quite well as we ended up having to walk our cute selves to and from the concert. SO, from what I did see of Bonner Springs, it's a nice area. Kansas driver's are quite accommodating when there are 4 women on a mission. I appreciated this very much.

The concert was fun and we had great seats. We were in the section closest to the stage. It was standing area only but we didn't mind one bit. We also had our own concession stand area which is always appreciated, isn't it?

Mumford & Sons puts on a great show. They're very talented and incorporate a lot of different musical elements which makes their show quite unique. I will say though that Dave Matthews has spoiled me when it comes to live concerts (if you've ever seen them and are a fan of their talent, their spectacular. Every time you go to a Dave concert you never know what to expect and he always gives his audience something you can't get anywhere else). With this in mind, I was hoping Mumford & Sons would vary their songs/musicality during their concert but they didn't do much. Don't get me wrong, they were great. I just felt like their live show sounded just like their albums in which case I can have my own private concert in my car whenever I feel like it.

Still had fun though. Like I said, outdoor concert, gorgeous weather, nice company, can't really go wrong can you?

For reference, there were actually two whole weeks between my Las Vegas trip and this short but sweet getaway. Nonetheless, this really is more excitement during a school month than I'm used to. It's been a blast but I am happy that I'll be staying put both at work and at home for a while.
