It's spring break here in Iowa! Wahoo! Looking back, I'm a bit saddened because I always made this announcement at the beginning of break with high hopes for fun and excitement in the week ahead. This year I'm writing about in at the end of spring break and the main reason for that is, well... because this spring break wasn't as exciting as they've been in the past years. Case in point...
this is the day we started drinking at 10am in the streets of Des Moines (blogged about here). We look surprisingly put together but truth be told, this picture was taken around 3pm and I'm positive we had a hard time keeping ourselves still enough for a picture :). Such fun.
and this is the day we celebrated St. Patrick's Day on a Sunday and didn't even care because we're teachers and it was spring break and we could drink all we wanted that Sunday because we didn't have to go to work the next day.
So the obvious factor missing for me this year was the green beer. No green beer for me. How sad. Luckily for Mike he still managed to find a way to have fun despite his lame-o wife by escaping to Kansas City with a few friends for the night. Meanwhile, I was at home falling into bed at 9:30pm because apparently this is my new bed time :).
I did however sneak off to Minnesota last weekend and had a fabulous time. My mom and I went for a long shopping outing at IKEA. It was crazy busy but thankfully we weren't in a huge hurry and had a nice idea of what we needed so we knew areas we could skip and areas we needed to hit. I completed various projects thanks to the loot I picked up so I'll be back with an update on those. I also had a great dinner with my favorite ladies Saturday night. It was so great to see them. They also humored me by letting me talk a bit about Baby P and are very excited about little nugget's arrival.
Even though it was "dryer" than I'd prefer, having a whole week off in March is nothing to complain about. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time off and having extra time to get some projects done and snuggle with our growing pup. Be back soon :)
