Nursery Update

Work on the nursery started a very long time ago (back in October) in the form of transitioning the room from a guest room with extra storage to a nursery in which 100% of the storage is available for the new addition. This took a lot of work because the closet in this room had become a dumping ground for anything we didn't want to "officially" organize at the time. I spent my weekends sorting, pitching, donating, and condensing our crap to be redistributed into our basement (which also went through the same process because for two people we really had accumulated a ton of crap over the years!). Luckily, all is well now and I think we can officially say we're well on our way to having a great space for Baby P to call their own.

Here's what the room looked like before as a guest room...

This was taken right after we moved in and isn't a great picture but the wall color is a sage green and it basically housed a guest bed and a dresser that was filled with Mike's clothes.

Here's what the room looks like now...

The crib took the place of the dresser and the wall color went from a sage green to a bright, aqua shade of blue.

The dresser/future changing table took the place of the bed. Obviously we'll add the changing pad to the top of the dresser once we get it.

The left side of this wall is reserved for our rocker/glider/recliner we ordered this past Wednesday. It's dark gray and has a sort of chambray pattern in the fabric. We're excited about the chair and were impressed we found a recliner option (which we think will be perfect for those desperate evenings where we shamelessly sleep with the baby on our chest even though we "swear" to be the parents that never let that happen, ha!) and hope to incorporate it into our living/family room once it's done being used in the nursery.

So far I'm really excited about how it's coming together. Even though it's blue, we still feel it's neutral enough to adapt for a boy of a girl once we know what little nugget is. Here's a "mood" board of what we're thinking for color incorporation once we find out if Baby P is a mister or a sister.

Along the middle are the pieces we already have in the room and the sides show colors for a boy or a girl. I found this image and this image on Pinterest and used them as inspiration. If it's a boy we'll incorporate green and graphite and for a girl we'll go with coral and pink. Nothing too crazy though I did find this shop on Etsy which I really like. I'd love to hang one of their mobiles above the crib to add something that wall. Bedding and curtains are also up in the air right now. I don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money but I would like to incorporate color and pattern somehow.

We shall see how it all comes together but for now, we're happy with the progress. It will definitely be functional by the time baby comes which gives me piece of mind.
