Weekend Update
A while back Groupon featured a deal for 10 tickets to any ICubs game this season for a total of $25, yes, that's $2.50 a game! So I read the fine print very carefully because I was sure there was a catch but as it turned out to be pretty legit so I went for it. Last Friday night, Mike and took full advantage. I can tell you they played a team called The Bees but I don't know where they were from and I can't even tell you if they won but we did have beer and popcorn and there were fireworks. It was a great night.
Saturday night we decided to shake things up a bit and attend a performance from The Improvised Shakespeare Company. I had heard about their show on the radio and through the Civic Center here in Des Moines and thought it sounded like something Mike and I would enjoy. And that we did.
If you're familiar with comedy sports shows, this was similar but with a Shakespearean twist. They start the show by polling the audience to get a title/theme for their performance. Then, they take about 2 minutes to whip up a two hour, completely improvised, and completely entertaining tragedy/comedy. Our title was "Jeopardy with Alec Trebek" and there was a Prince about to take the throne under an evil curse, a Princess in waiting and a damsel in distress, Court Jesters preparing their act for a royal wedding, and of course angry Frenchmen looking to take over the English throne. Oh, and did I mention this was all performed by 6 men? The group is based out of Chicago and some of them have worked for Second City which I think is super cool. The show was great and it was truly funny (and I can be a tough critic but really, it was hilarious), you should check them out too!
I hope your week has started off well. And if it hasn't just remember, you have a 3 day weekend ahead!!
