A Very Thankful Weekend Update

#10- Veteran's Day serves as a nice reminder to take a moment and thank those who serve our country. Last summer I attended a welcome home ceremony for men and women who spent the last year serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. It was so powerful and a wonderful reminder that there are family members everywhere who go about their business day in and day out while a loved one (or loves ones) is over seas. To the Veteran's and those currently serving, thank you.

#11- Mike and I spent our Friday evening with a great friend attending none other than... Wicked! This is Wicked's second time touring in Des Moines. I was lucky enough to go the first time around with some girlfriends and loved it! When I saw it back on the line up for this year I knew I had to see it again, and Mike agreed to see it too. It was phenomenal and reaffirmed my unconditional love for live theater. I'm thankful for every part of it, the sets, the lighting, the dancing, and the actors... I just can't get enough! I'm also thankful to have a hubby who not only does not mind seeing musicals/plays with me but actually enjoys them too. I know I've said this a million times but... I'm a lucky gal =).

#12- Yesterday Mike and I hit up the Wine and Food Expo here in Des Moines thanks to a half price deal from Living Social. We weren't quite sure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised by how fun and entertaining it was! I loved sampling all the wine and Mike was able to sample a lot of seasonal brews from his favorite brewing companies. The food wasn't too bad either although the wine and beer were much more plentiful than the food samples. Let's just say, by the time we left, it was clear Mike and I sampled far more wine and beer than we did food =). When we returned home I realized two things: I'm thankful for special events such as this where Mike and I can enjoy each others company and I'm thankful for Living Social for allowing us to enjoy this event at half price. Score!

#13- And, to finish the list for today I'd like to proclaim my thankfulness for our lovely crock pot. Honestly, how can you beat a meal requiring minimal effort with such a delicious pay off! Today we're making an old favorite, Ryan's Chili from this yummy book. I can't decide what my favorite part of this meal is, the chili or the cornbread muffins we make to go with it, mmmmmm, I can't wait!

Happy Sunday everyone, I hope your weekend has been one to remember and that it hasn't gone by too quickly =).
