Hey Soul Sister
#5- Today, I am thankful for having fabulous friends who I've known, and have known me, for years. As I've gotten older I've realized how lucky I am to still have so many of these friends in my life. Yesterday, we all gathered in Ames for a Reunion Tailgate (just like last year) and I'm still always so pleasantly surprised with the ease at which we all mesh. Events like this are filled to the brim with squeals of joy, bear hugs, and general life updates and I love every minute of it! We're not a hard group to get along with when your tailgate includes great food, beer bongs, flippy cup, and dance parties that spill into the street. What can I say, we certainly know how to throw a party.
Oh, I just love them so much =).
#6- Comfort Movies: I realize the phrase Comfort Food is widely recognized but I do feel the word comfort can be inserted before many nouns, like movies in this case. Mike and I were obviously moving quite slow today due to our marathon of drinking we enjoyed yesterday. Truth be told, we have a system for days like this. One of us takes the living room and the other stays in the bedroom. Why? Because we currently own two DVD players and they are located in each of these rooms. We each have our list of Go To movies to watch on days like this. You know, the ones you've seen so many times you really won't feel sad if you dose off or are distracted by mobile Facebook and/or Pinterest. Today I watched Pretty Woman and Dirty Dancing but my stack also includes Working Girl, Sleepless in Seattle, The First Wives Club, Father of the Bride, and Sixteen Candles. It's true, I have a soft spot in my heart for movies made in the late 80's early 90's =). I'm thankful for lazy days in which I can indluge in my Comfort Movie pleasures. BTW- Mike's comfort movies include the Lord of the Rings Trilogy... you can see, when comparing my list and his, why our system includes separate spaces =).
