Washed Away
We are experiencing some crazy weather here in central Iowa. The days are scorching hot and the nights are filled with massive amounts of water in short amounts of time. While Des Moines is still holding strong, our neighbor (not really neighbor) to the north, Ames, is being washed away. Click here to read about it and view a slideshow with pics of Ames.
This is, of course, a tragedy for everyone living in Ames but I am also thinking of the folks at Iowa State preparing for a countless amount of college freshmen moving in in the next few weeks. This week also marks the first week the Greek system is up and running. Sororities are preparing for recruitment week next week (one of my absolute favorite memories from college!) and the frat. boys are working hard to clean up/fix up their houses before newbies move in. Keep everyone in Ames in your thoughts and prayers over the next few weeks. Let's hope for a quick recovery without too much setback.
