Just what the doctor ordered

Last Friday, Mike and I headed east for a weekend of family, friends, and fun. I had my very last research paper to write (due today) and was lucky enough to finish it on the way to Mike's parents place (thanks to Mike for driving and laptops), which meant... a weekend without having to think about school (I had totally forgotten what that was like!). Needless to say, it was just what the doctor ordered.



Our plan was to spend as much time poolside as possible but Saturday was mostly cloudy so we went outlet shopping instead, not a terrible alternative =). Sunday was better so our schedule went as follows... nap while laying on our backs, cool off in the pool, nap while laying on our stomachs, cool off in the pool, repeat, repeat, repeat. 

It was amazing. =)

We are in our last week of class and work and are ready to be done. School will be here soon, but as of now we are feeling calm and ready to tackle the big tasks ahead of us! Thanks to Mike's family for the rejuvenating weekend!!

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a post about Will's arrival partly because I believe this is a very intimate event meant for an exclusive crowd (in our case this would include just Mike and I) and partly because I wasn't sure I'd really want to relive the event. Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). We both come from neighboring states (I’m from Minnesota and he’s from Illinois ) but we are thoroughly enjoying our lives here in the capital city. Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
