Weekend Update

I'm sitting here in our living room watching the men's Super G (OH my goodness, this hill is insane, btw), Jackson's is going to town on a bone (a Sunday night treat for him), Mike is in the basement lesson planning, and I got to thinking..., "what a nice relaxing Sunday evening this is. I should really hike myself off this couch to get my computer so I can stay true to my word that this blog is in fact back." Indeed it is.

We had a fun and busy weekend. My family has mentioned they wanted to catch a men's basketball game for the past few years (translation: my mom loves Fred Hoiberg and wanted to see him in person) so we thought it'd be nice to get them tickets for Christmas this year. Between the Cyclone popularity and crazy busy spring schedules, this weekend was the best fit so down they came from Minnesota to cheer on the Cyclones as they took on Texas Tech yesterday afternoon. It was a 12:45 game so we decided to load up our tummies with a hearty breakfast from Drake Diner before heading to Ames. This was also around the time a minor blizzard decided to grace central Iowa's presence, score! Luckily, we made it to Ames with no trouble however and got to Hilton with plenty of time to spare.

The Cyclones won despite losing a 15 point lead in the beginning of the 2nd half. It was a good game and we had a lot of fun. I'm sure we'll be back again I just have to remember to buy tickets sooner! We topped the day off with dinner at Court Ave. which made for a great end to the day.

We said goodbye to the family early this morning and spent the rest of the day checking off items on our to-do lists. Topping Jackson's to do list was catch up on his snoozes which he did very well. He hardly sleeps a wink when we have company because he wants to be a part of all the action, funny guy.

It looks like we have another round of winter weather heading our way tonight including some freezing rain. Hopefully it won't be too bad. Happy mid February everyone and for all our teacher friends out there... only two more weeks of this godforsaken month! Yay!
