Game Changer
Apparently very long breaks between posts have become a norm around here. So long in fact, the calendar has turned not only many months but one whole year too since the last installment. Happy Thanksgiving... Merry Christmas... and happy New year to all! I should've waited a few days just so I could throw Valentine's Day in there too. How'd that be for a jolly quad-fecta (is that a thing? it is now.)?
"Toto, I think we're not inKansas newlywed territory anymore."
Although the blog stood still we have actually been quite busy. 2014 has always been a very special year because it's the year my little brother will graduate from high school. While this may seem like no big deal, it's a year I've been thinking about since July 10th, 1995 (the day he was born). It was so far off at that point that envisioning what our lives would look like 18 years from that day was practically science fiction. Would cars fly? How would we communicate? Would people live in space? Communication is certainly different but outer space real estate and hover crafts are still in our distant future though I imagine any 11 year old still thinks all of these are possible within the next 18 years like I did back then. So 2014 has always been a landmark year to me and now it's going to be even bigger than I ever imagined.
Baby P (or Phyllis, as we're calling it) at about 20 weeks. No we don't know if it's a boy or girl nor do we plan to find out until the big day. :)

It's true, Mike, Jackson, and I will greet our newest family member in a matter of months. The funny part is, my due date is June 6th which is the same day as Jake's graduation! How crazy is that?! Well, it's crazy to me... Jake seems to think it's yet another example of how I can't just let him celebrate anything alone anymore (which is sort of true but mostly him being dramatic) (okay, actually it's very true and I would feel the same way if I were him, it's amazing he still tells me he loves me when we speak).
Anyways, I have a lot to share. We've known about our little pea since the last week in September and in the interest of documenting this journey before my brain becomes completely occupied with other things, I'll be back with more details in the coming days and weeks. *Disclaimer: As of now, I have absolutely no intention of posting belly pics. I will not be doing a week by week update because in the 23 weeks I've been in this state I've realized not a whole lot changes from week to week. I want to follow a similar format as my Newlywed Truths and share summaries of things I've experienced, learned, and felt so far during this journey. I find this suits me a bit better than a schedule and I've enjoyed looking back on those and laugh to myself because they depict exactly how I thought and felt at the time I wrote the post.
So... hold on to your socks as this blog, much like our lives, reaches a whole new level of interesting. Hope you're as excited as I am :). Let the adventure begin.
