Peace Tree Brewing Co.
We took a short road trip with a few friends to Knoxville, Iowa on Saturday to visit the Peace Tree Brewing Company. It's a locally owned brewing company that currently only distributes throughout Iowa. We started by sampling their beers on a lovely labeled tray...
We tried our best to move from lightest to darkest but these "small" samples are a quite deceiving. By the 4th beer, there clearly was no longer any logic to the order of our tasting. My favorite of the bunch was their Templeton Blonde on the right side of the first row. Once we had sampled each we joined a tour group through the facility. Peace Tree has been around since 2009 and is actually a family owned company. The family owns an insurance company in Knoxville and decided they wanted to open an additional business in the area. They settled on a brewery, traveled to Boston to learn everything they could about the business, and have since grown into a very successful micro-brewery.
Find out more here and if you live in the area I'd highly recommend a trip. They don't serve food but they have menus to any and all local restaurants and let you order in from wherever which, I felt, was pretty neat. We had a great time and will hopefully make it back soon!
