House Project #1
We're renovating the kitchen.
Like, the whole thing. New cabinets, new countertops, new floor. *For those of you saying, "ooh, you really shouldn't remodel anything until you've lived in the house for a while," thanks, you're probably right but we're still doing it.
You see, from the time we first laid eyes on our new home we knew the kitchen was the one thing we needed to tackle at some point. For starters, there was a leak in the master bathroom at the time of our home inspection. The leak is fully fixed but the floor in the kitchen was very badly damaged. We'll be replacing this as soon as we can. Next, we need to add a dishwasher (because it doesn't have one). To do this, we'll have to take out a bay of drawers and replace the sink to add more room. As you can see, it's sort of a one thing leads to another situation.
The renovations will happen in two phases, the first of which is listed below with pictures of the progress.
Phase 1:
- Remove upper cabinets
- Remove soffit
- Drywall exposed wall
- Mud drywall and paint!
Pictures before with the previous owners still living there.
No, we didn't get to keep the fridge and, for the record, this was the largest fridge I have ever seen in my life.
Step 1 complete.
Next we'll remove the area above the cabinet line which will hopefully add a more spacious feel. We have a meeting tomorrow afternoon with Home Depot to finalize our cabinets and counter-tops. We haven't figured out what we'll do for the floor yet but will know more after tomorrow. I'm so excited to have this meeting and find out the timeline for everything! Stay tuned =).
