Happy Valentine's Day

Do you want to know something crazy? This is the 10th Valentine's day Mike and I have spent together. Which means... Mike and I are approaching our 10 year anniversary of being together. ten.years. More on this later (like in 5 months) but I just thought I'd put it out there. It's near. A whole decade, more than a third of our lives together; crazy I tell you.

Part of me feels as though it's flown by; and in a lot of ways it has. Was it not just yesterday I was convincing Mike to go to history class for me so I could sleep in a little longer? (which he always did and, in the end, I ended up with a better grade than him) Was it not just yesterday we were planning our wedding together? (best day ever)





But there's the other part of me who remembers being 19 and knows without a doubt we have grown up quite a bit. And I couldn't be prouder of us.
 
I can't say much with certainty but I do know neither of us ever saw ourselves or our lives where they are today and the best part about that fact is that we wouldn't change a thing. As such, on this day, the 10th Valentine's day of us, I'm completely full. Of love, gratitude, happiness, you name it. Happy V-day Mikester, you're quite simply the best of the best and you'll always be my favorite Valentine.

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a post about Will's arrival partly because I believe this is a very intimate event meant for an exclusive crowd (in our case this would include just Mike and I) and partly because I wasn't sure I'd really want to relive the event. Welcome to Iowa!

Come one, come all… to a place called Iowa (it’s in the middle, not to be confused with Idaho ). Welcome blog-trotters , I’m happy you are here! My Iowa journey began 8 years ago at Iowa State University and I’m now going on year 4 of my true residency as an Iowan. My husband and I live in the center of the downtown area of Des Moines. We make a living by teaching the youth of America (or future Iowans themselves). We both come from neighboring states (I’m from Minnesota and he’s from Illinois ) but we are thoroughly enjoying our lives here in the capital city. Baby P has Arrived

It's true... the wait is finally over... Baby P has officially joined the world. William Michael Pentek  finally  joined the world on June 18th! Truth be told, I was  completely shocked  it was a boy. I secretly was convinced it was a girl the entire time I was pregnant, honest. I didn't say anything ever because I truly did not care either way, it was just a feeling I had. And I was wrong! Mike was actually the one to announce the sex once he came out and I was in shock!! Here's Will the day after he was born. Here's Will as we packed up to leave the hospital. This picture cracks me up because the look on his face looks so  skeptical as if he's thinking, "are they really going to send me home with these  two?!" haha, can't say I blame him. :) Will is now 12 days old and we've been home for a week and 2 days. He (and we) even survived his first road trip to Minnesota this past weekend. We are adjusting very well...
