Wrapping up the Holidays
We spent last weekend in Illinois celebrating a belated Christmas with Mike's family. Between the two weddings over winter break this year and a shorter than normal break, traveling to both families during that time was a long shot. Luckily, they were really flexible and agreed to delay Pentek family Christmas until the 2nd weekend in January (which is also the reason I just put away our Christmas decorations yesterday here at home... that's legit right? the fact that we weren't completely done celebrating Christmas yet?)
It was swell and we walked away with some fantastic gifts including a new camera (thanks to Missy and Brian) and a new super suction hand held vacuum cleaner (thanks to Mike's parents) among other things. It was a great weekend and, as always, it was so nice to catch up and spend time with everyone in Mike's immediate family.
We also saw Zero Dark Thirty all together (the six of us all enjoy seeing movies so it's become a nice past time we enjoy doing when we're all together). I have to say, I found the movie fascinating and I'm really happy to see Jessica Chastain continuing to make a great name for herself. I do have to say I'm sad to see Katherine Bigelow wasn't nominated for best director even if it's a true statement she may not deserve it as much as everyone else but I don't care; I'll always root for a female to compete for an honor most commonly granted to men. Regardless, she's a pretty gutsy woman to put out movies like Hurt Locker and this one so she's a winner in my book. I thought it was a great movie and worth the time we took to go see it. I'd recommend it to anyone who finds the work of the CIA interesting (even if it is dramatized, it's still more information than I'd know otherwise). I do hope Jessica Chastain wins for best actress, I thought she did a great job.
With that, we officially wrapped up the holiday season. It definitely included more travel than ever before but we got to see so many people we otherwise wouldn't have which is always a great thing in our books. Again I say, happy new year everyone!
