Thanksgiving!
This picture made all of us laugh! It is a know fact in the Pentek family that Mike tends to stick to white food, even on holidays. Turkey, mashed potatoes, and rolls should always be placed near Mike on the table. Pat and Amy were fully prepared with 36 rolls for 12 people to eat during dinner!!!!
Mmmmmmmm!
We had 2 turkeys this year. Pat and Amy's traditional oven roasted turkey and Uncle Mike's deep fryed turkey. Both were delicious!
Our lovely host couple, Pat and Amy, and their bird! They're so proud!!
Obviously one tricky thing about being newlyweds is deciding which family to join for various holidays. This year, my family made it easy because they chose to head down to Florida for the Thanksgiving break... so we packed up the car on Wednesday afternoon and ventured to St. Charles, IL (Mike's hometown). A typical Thanksgiving with the Pentek's includes many family members mostly from Mike's moms side of the family and an occasional family or two from his dad's side. This year, we were a bit smaller so Mike's cousin Pat and his wife Amy decided to host everyone at their townhome. Awesome food and great company! After feasting, we played Wii Resort to burn off some of that turkey. Great times!
The rest of the weekend was filled with shopping, lounging, and the usual St. Charles shenanigans. Two of Mike's good friends from high school (Mike and Bob from the wedding pictures) live in St. Charles so we try to spend as much time as we can with them when we visit. Again, always a good time... yet a night with the boys never fails to leave one of us (Mike or myself) a bit hazy the next day!
We had a great weekend and a very welcomed break from school. On the ride home we were able to reflect on what we are thankful for...
We are very thankful to both have jobs that can contribute to our various adventures and lifes necessities.
We are thankful for our families and their hospitality.
Lastly, although we could go on for a while... we are thankful for each other!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone and welcome the start of Christmas mania!!
