Is this thing on?

Hot damn it's been a long time since I've logged on to this thing. Although I understand it's completely logical to think I've given up on the whole idea of blogging after a 3 months of nothing but I can assure you I haven't. I'm not sure if it was the business of my first year in my new position at a new school, our terribly long winter (we had our last snow fall on May 3rd, May 3rd, insanity), or something I can't quite put my finger on but every time I'd sit down to write I felt I was forcing it a bit. Rather than scraping together a post full-o-crap for you to enjoy, I chose to leave it and come back. 3 months later I do feel as though I've refilled my well so to speak so, here I am. I'm certain you feel reassured that I want only the best for you my dear reader as I'm sure my archives prove in spades. (that was a joke. If you'd like proof, play a little game in the archive links on the sidebar, I'm sure you'll find plenty of posts that contradict my last statement :).

In other news, around the time of my last post Mike and I made a pretty big decision for our little family of two. *pause for effect... We are getting a dog. Yes, it's true, our family will grow from 4 legs to 8 in a matter of a week and 3 days. It's a boy and he is a black labrador retriever from a breeder here in Iowa (more details to come). Our breeder has sent us pictures since the puppies were born so I've included one for you to enjoy.

We won't know which one is ours until we go to pick him up on July 8th but each puppy has worn the same color collar in each of the pictures so once we know we can go back and look at pictures of him since he was newly born. I'm not going to lie, we're pretty darn excited about our new addition. It'll be a lot of work but the beauty of it is, we planned our summer so that we have absolutely nothing else going on but welcoming our newest member. It should be quite an adventure!
