First Things First
Waaaaaaay back in June, Mike and I took a trip up to MN to visit my family. Of the four of us in my immediate family, 3 of our birthdays are within about 3 weeks of each other and this trip was a chance to celebrate all three in one weekend.
Here's what a cake looks like for a tri-birthday celebration:
(Kudos to Dairy Queen for fitting it all in).
We pulled in Friday night and as we finished dinner I couldn't help but notice my mom and dad looking at each other as if they had a great big secret to reveal. About two minutes after I saw this, I was told to close my eyes because they had a "birthday surprise" for me. I realize this sounds like it's a birthday party for a little girl and in all honesty, my excitement level was truly comparable to that of a little girl; I mean, it's my 28th birthday and, let's face it, surprises are hard to come by after a while right? Anyways, I was excited.
When I opened my eyes, I saw this:
(okay, not really this, it had both the wheels in it but this is the only picture I have of it.)
A bike. My parents got me a bike for my birthday! I couldn't believe it!! I was so surprised and when I looked over at Mike I realized he was in on it too. I had mentioned a while back how I'd love to get a bike so I can go for rides with Mike but I never thought they'd get me a bike.
It was best way to start off the summer and so far I've gone for a bike ride with my mom (my first actually, the Saturday after they surprised me with the bike), Mike and I took a ride to Drake Diner for breakfast one morning, and tomorrow we're heading out for a nice looooong ride since the temperature is allegedly going to tollerable for outdoor excursions.
I can't wait. Thanks Mom and Dad =).
