It's Finally Here
and by this I mean... spring break 2011! Oh man, I can't even begin to tell you how welcome this break is. Despite the growing to-do list in my mind, my students handled the last day before break wonderfully. I started the day by saying, "good morning, I realize it is the day before spring break but we have a lot of work to do before we "loosen" up so let's get to it." And then they did... they worked in silence to complete their to do list, we cleaned our desks and the classroom, etc. I was so proud. =)
Although we aren't going anywhere on the list of common spring break destinations, I am so looking forward to using this time off to get caught up on life. I will have time to read, plan, and complete grad. work so when Monday March 21st roles around I am ready to charge full speed ahead into the final stretch of the year (*side note- I cannot believe how this year has flown by). Along with this I have some adult/random/annoying items on my list to complete as well, such as:
- visiting the eye doctor for the second time in my life because I can no longer see after 6:00pm on most nights nor can I read the white board from across my classroom (I suppose I'll take 'losing vision' over gray hair as of now though, huh?)
- repairing the tiniest crack in my windshield which I'm super annoyed about because its literally less than an inch in length
- picking up my cap and gown from the Drake bookstore because I am officially two months away from completing my masters degree!
Now, I know what you're thinking... "Sarah, be sure to plan fun things as well so you fully "enjoy" your time off." I truly appreciate your concern and I'm happy to assure you, fun will be had. Tonight we are heading to Ames for our 2nd annual spring break bar crawl with our favorite PhD Iowa Stater! This year is already guaranteed to be more successful than last year because last year, genius' that we are, we did this on a Sunday and there was only one bar open. This along with a few potential activities towards the end of the week will ensure SB 2011 brings good times for all.
For those of you traveling south for a warm getaway, enjoy! For those of you hoping to tackle your to do list, may the force be with you!! Happy spring break everyone!
